Could this be the first sunny canal festival of the year? This Saturday is the 10th Linslade Canal Festival, a free community event promoting rural arts and crafts, conservation, canal life and the heritage of the town's green spaces. It is organised by Leighton-Linslade Town Council and supported by Central Bedfordshire Council and The Canal and River Trust. You will find Linslade on the Grand Union Canal, on the Bedfordshire-Buckinghamshire border.

Visitors will find a diverse selection of stalls selling handmade crafts from jewellery, painted ceramics and glassware to fancy sweets. Local organisations will be promoting their groups and charities will once again be looking for your support with their fundraising activities.

Traditional rural craft demonstrations will include;

Basket making
Country Chair making
Trug making
Love Spoon carving
Bee Skep making with an observation hive so visitors can watch the bees at work.

There will also be morris dancers, working narrowboats, folk, jazz and pop music, plus a drum circle.
Grebe Canal Cruises will be running boat trips and there is also an option to arrive at the festival by ferry boat – catch it at the wharf in the town centre. There is a small charge for the ferry and signs on the day will let you know the running times.
