Broker's Comments

Designed by Martin Sadler as an ongoing improvement to his earlier Sadler 32 and Contessa 32, the Sadler 34 is swift, seaworthy and a delight to sail. Between the inner and outer moulding, the hull is filled with a rigid polyurethane foam which is said to render the hull virtually unsinkable.

This yacht has certainly been well travelled under its current ownership of the last 12 years. This includes circumnavigation of the UK and the island of Ireland, multiple trips across the channel and to the Scilly Isles, and sailing to Portugal, France and Spain. The owner has now decided to retire from sailing and to sell his much loved, sailed yacht, hopefully, to another keen sailor.

'Yachting Monthly' boat tested the Sadler 34 design in 1984 (in a Force 7-8) and commented "....We raced at 8 knots or so on a broad reach. With the wind hovering in the low force 7’s, she stormed along in fine style, with an easy pressure and good response on the helm" and "...when the wind rose to the mid-8s, we rolled the jib to No 4 size before coming on the wind .... she was now consistently light and perfectly balanced with a delightful feel" and "..... her motion through the water put one in mind of larger yachts".

It is said that the Yachting Monthly Editor who reviewed the design, subsequently bought one himself!
