The 2012 Ipswich Maritime Festival is well under way, this weekend strategically marks the middle of this 2 week event. With the weather forecast to be the best of the summer so far Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th August promise to be fun packed full on days and nights for Ipswich.

The activities for the weekend include Live Music, Craft & Waterfront Markets, Taster Sessions and Dance Classes and Salsa Party at the Jerwood Dance House, Georgian Activities, Isaacs Beer Festival; Pirate Puppet Shows, Children's Pottery making and Art Exhibition at the UCS Plaza, as well as Fairground Rides, WWII & the 1940's Home Front Programme at the Orwell Quay with a most spectacular evening firework display, one that can be seen all the way down the river Orwell.

There will be a formidable variety of visitors to the marina in the Lady of Avenel, Centaur, Thallatta, MT Kent, Old Gaffers and the more regularly seen Thames Barges. Our very own heros the RNLI will be taking time out to talk about safety on topics such as Lifejackets, Lines & Strops and Man Over Board Recovery methods.

There's no reason to sit in doors complaining there's nothing on the telly - the waterfront is the place to be with so much for every member of the family to see, do and experience.
