Broker's Comments

Boatshed Essex are delighted to offer this 23m Dutch Barge for sale. This attractive barge has been in the same ownership for 35 years and was currently moored in Canary Wharf from before most of the surrounding buildings had even been conceived, now lying in Essex.

She was purchased in the Netherlands and converted into a two-masted sailing barge before being brought across to London. The barge was refitted internally in 2014 and completely overplated in 2017. The boat was also epoxied at the time. The owners have had the barge surveyed in August 2022 and the report is available to any prospective owners. It showed the hull to be in excellent condition and the only work required was to replace the anodes.

Inside there are currently two cabins but there is potential to convert the area under the aft deck into a small third cabin. The open plan living area and galley is a really good size for entertaining and the forward cabin can also work as a studio/home office. The bathroom has a shower cubicle, basin and electric heads.

Externally, the barge would benefit from the topsides being repainted. The sails have not been used for many years and if the intention was to take this barge cruising, they would need to be replaced. Although, the Barge recently moved under power from the Thames, to Northern Essex under its own engine, providing a crusising platform, if required.

There is also a current Boat Safety Scheme certificate.

If you would like any further information or arrange a viewing, please contact one of the Boatshed Essex team and we would be delighted to help.
